How to Choose Your First Wig
12 March 2026 · 6 min read

Buying your first unit can feel like learning a new language. It isn't. There are really only four decisions to make, and once you understand them the rest is personal taste.
Start with cap construction. A lace front gives you a natural hairline and side-to-side parting. A full lace cap lets you wear updos. A U-part uses a little of your own hair to blend, with no glue at all — often the kindest place to begin.
Next, density. 150% sits close to most people's natural hair. 180% reads full and glamorous. 200% is a statement. If you are unsure, 150–180% flatters nearly everyone.
Then length. Measure from your crown down; 18 inches usually falls just past the bust. Finally, budget honestly — one well-made Virgin Remy unit will outlast three cheaper ones.
